Cling Wrap, also known as a Shrink Film, is a versatile packing material for packing finished food products and beverages for storage and shipping. The packaging material is a thin elastic, and flexible plastic film. Shrink Films can adjust to any size and shape regardless of product type. Due to its unique design and properties, the packaging is used extensively for preserving the freshness of foods such as vegetables, fruits, and meats. The heat from an electric heating gun or heat conveyor tunnel shrinks it tightly to take the shape of the product placed in it. Through this process, manufacturers create a clear and durable barrier to protect the products packed inside it.
Cling Wrap is available in a wide range of clarities, thicknesses, shrink ratios, and strengths. It can be utilised as independent packaging or combined with another packaging to create a unique protective layering over the product. The packaging film can be customised according to product packaging requirements.
There are three main kinds of Cling Wrap: polyolefin, polyethene, and polyvinyl chloride. Each material has distinct properties that make it appropriate for particular applications. Moreover, it is possible to do a co-extrusion of each material into multiple layers of a film using various additives. This gives distinctive characteristics to the film barrier, which helps promote the shelf life or appearance of the packaged products.
