Proximity Safety Components

Industrial warehouse proximity alert systems prevent pedestrian collisions. Proximity safety components are a range of additional devices comprised of magnetic field generators, light and audio warning modules, personal alarm device chargers, and other equipment.

Active Detection for Pedestrian Safety

Each magnetic field generator actively detects pedestrians by emitting a field picked up by the pedestrian’s personal alarm device. These versatile generators can be easily installed on any mobile equipment or powered vehicle, making it convenient to implement the proximity alert system throughout the facility.

Proximity alert components support multiple vehicles and personal alarm devices, significantly enhancing workplace safety. Small silencers can be utilised to establish silent zones in pedestrian-safe areas. This effectively prevents unnecessary alarm activations and maximises the efficiency of the forklift system.

Magnetic Field Generator System

The magnetic field generator is a comprehensive system comprising four components: generator, warning module, cab silencer, and power cable. Power chord channels the 12V needed for the system from a source on the truck downstream from the ignition. The blue light on the generator shows power is running to the unit, while the orange light shows a pedestrian warning.

  • The generator forms a pulsing magnetic field as a marker around the truck.
  • The warning module provides the driver with visual and audible warnings (103 dB) when a pedestrian wearing a personal alarm device (PAD) is within the magnetic field of the truck.
  • The cab silencer allows the driver to wear a PAD but prevents the alarm from going off while driving.
Magnetic Field Generator System with Collision Avoidance Module (CAM)

The magnetic field generator is a comprehensive system that includes the generator, warning module, cab silencer, and power cable. An additional component, the collision avoidance module, can be installed to alert drivers of other trucks close to the CAM.

  • The Generator creates a pulsing magnetic field that provides a marker around the truck.
  • The warning module provides the driver with a visual and audio warning (103dB) when a pedestrian wearing a PAD is within the magnetic field of the truck.
  • The cab silencer allows the driver to wear a PAD but prevents the alarm from going off while driving.
  • The power cord channels the 12V needed for the system from a source on the truck downstream from the ignition. The blue light on the generator shows power is running to the unit, while the orange light indicates a pedestrian warning.
XL Magnetic Field Generator System

XL Magnetic Field Generator System is supplied with the four components that make up the system, including the XL Generator, Warning Module, Cab Silencer, and Power Cable.

  • XL Generator generates a pulsing magnetic field that provides a market around the truck.
  • The warning module provides the driver with visual and audible warnings (103 dB) when a pedestrian wearing a PAD is within the magnetic field of the truck.
  • The cab silencer allows the driver to wear a PAD but prevents the alarm from going off while driving.
  • Power cord channels 12V or 24V are needed for the system from a source on the truck downstream from the ignition. The blue light on the generator indicates power is running to the unit. By choosing an XL Generator using 24V, the market around the truck can extend up to ~100ft for the warning zone.
Warning Module – Light/Sound

The warning module offers drivers audio and visual warnings when a pedestrian is nearby while driving in reverse. With the audio warning rated at 103dB, this product connects chains directly in the warning module with light and sound (included in the MFG system).

Warning Module – Light Only

The warning module only provides users with a visual warning when a pedestrian walks behind the driver, giving enough time to prevent the collision. It connects light and sound to the warning module (included in the MFG system).

Cab Silencer

The cab silencer is installed in the magnetic field generator system to silence a vehicle operator’s PAD from detecting magnetic fields from other magnetic field generators nearby. The cab silencer enables the automatic disabling of the operator’s PAD when in the protected area of the vehicle’s cab.

Personal Alarm Devices

10-Port Charger: The PAD battery must be fully charged daily. The 10-Port Charger is available in three channels: Single Bay (to charge 1 PAD), 5-BAY (Charges up to 5 PADs at a time), and 10 Bay (Charges up to 10 PADs at a time).

Checkout Station: The checkout station helps verify the functionality of various devices, ensuring they are in working condition. These devices include the PAD, sounder, magnetic field sensors, LED, and battery charger.

PAD Test Module

The PAD Test Module ensures that all PAD function properly, minimising workplace hazards caused by device malfunction. In addition, the PAD test module serves as a reminder for employees to charge their PAD daily. PAD test module has a test station, power cable, and warning module, best suited for warehouses that use forklifts and other vehicles.

Area Control

Structure Monitor: The monitor protects permanent structures that need repair or are expensive to replace. It can be used as a standalone device when a solar panel is added or connected to a 110Vac. The Structure Monitor detects the generator and sends a warning signal back to the truck as the truck approaches. The arc length around the Structure Monitor can be easily adjusted by removing the top cover and turning the pot with a 3/32′′ slotted screwdriver.

Access Monitor: The monitor enables employers wearing a PAD to access controlled areas. This serves as a reminder to employees to charge their PAD daily and avoid device misplacement. When an access monitor detects a PAD, it sends a command to a relay box and fixture with an on/off mechanism, which controls the gates’ opening and closing. The access monitor has a power cable, warning module, and relay.

Area Monitor: Used as a standalone device or in conjunction with the MAC-A system, the area monitor can provide visual and audio warning alarms to workers of an approaching truck. It is best used at intersections and pedestrian areas with blind corners. The length of the area around the monitor is adjustable and can be done by taking off the top cover and slightly turning the pot with a 3/32″ slotted screwdriver. The area monitor has a relay box and 50 ft of 18/2 thermostat wire. Lights are not included.

Mechanised Area Control

Mechanised Area Control – A: MAC-A System requires the truck entering the area, equipped with a magnetic field generator system with collision avoidance module (CAM) and the workers to wear a PAD. When all three devices are used simultaneously, it separates pedestrians and equipment, preventing them from occupying the controlled area simultaneously.

MAC-A System can generate an adjustable magnetic field about 11 ft above the designated area, up to 30 ft wide, and extend up to 160″. On the other hand, the Collision Avoidance Module senses the magnetic field from the MAC, activating warning alerts such as lights and horns. Thus, when all workers wearing the PAD are out of the magnetic field of the MAC-A System, the truck will be able to enter the area. MAC-A system is supplied with a MAC controller, two relay boxes, MAC system of up to 160 ft of conduit and wire. However, lights are not included.

Mechanised Area Control – Z: The MAC-Z system prevents the PAD worn by workers from sounding when they are in the protected area. MAC-Z system generates an adjustable magnetic field suspended at about 11 ft above the designated area, up to 30 ft wide, and can extend up to 160″. When all workers wearing personal alarm devices are in the MAC-Z system’s magnetic field, a truck can enter the area without triggering the alarm.

Silent Zones

Silent Zone: The room silent zone provides an area where the personal alarm devices will not activate even when a truck with a generator is nearby. Common areas that need a silent zone include office(s), conference rooms, workrooms, or a cafeteria next to a truck path. The silent field is oval-shaped and can be easily adjusted to fit within the confines of the room by removing the top cover and turning the PWM pot. As the magnetic field penetrates walls and other obstructions, all personal alarm devices worn within the field of the silent zone will not activate. The jammer is an alternative to the silent zone when the EMI noise is too high. The field’s radius (major axis) for the silent zone is between 6 ft to 28 ft.

Silent Spot: The silent spot is used for smaller areas near a truck path. The silent spot, which covers an area of only 2 ft to 9 ft, can be used in areas such as workstations, desk(s), or personal work areas. Since magnetic fields can penetrate walls and obstructions, silent spots can prevent workers’ alarm devices from activating. By removing the top cover and turning the PWM pot, the silent field can be easily adjusted to fit within the confines of designated areas. When the EMI noise is too high, the silent spot is an alternative to the room silent zone/jammer.
